Mr. Devendra Shah is the Hon. President of Indian Spice & Foodstuff Exporters’ Association since October 2024.
He is also the Founder & Managing Partner at Aayu Impex, since 1998 a Government of India recognised Export House. He primarily exports to U.S.A, UK & Australia. He is a very amicable person and always willing and ready to help ISFEA members with their export related issues.

Pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) are class of plants toxins produced as a defense mechanism against insect herbivores. Many invasive noxious weeds have high content of PAs.
PA-related long-term health consequences has prompted new controls from food safety regulators.
Limits set by EU is 400 µg/Kg
Weed control at every stage of spice plant growth and high grade cleaning will ensure low PAs occurrence.
Ethylene Oxide gas has been used to reduce microbial contamination in Spices. However this method has been banned for EU and current EU regulation sets below limits:

Sum of Ethylene oxide and 2-chloro-ethanol should be less than these limits. Exporters need to ensure that transporters, packaging material suppliers, cold storages and other storage houses do not use ETO in any of their processes. Exporters also need to ensure ETO treated products for other countries are handled and transported separately.
